Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Safety Assistant to join the Environmental Health & Safety Department. This is a temporary, casual, non-exempt position, and is not eligible for benefits. The anticipated schedule may be up to 40 hours per week during the summer (June-Aug) and could range from 3-5 days per week.
Physical duties for this position include but are not limited to, ability lift 25-50 lbs independently and or with assistance; Carrying 25-50 lbs 4 times per day; Visual abilities to include depth perception, ability to see peripherally, far and near vision, ability to distinguish basic colors. Hear and respond to instructions, work with and around others as well as alone. Other physical tasks include occasional/prolonged standing/walking; kneeling, climbing (ladders / stools), pushing, pulling, reaching above and below shoulders, use of hands for basic /fine grasping/manipulation. Will be exposed to excessive heat or humidity, grease and oils, hazardous substances, and high locations. Must be able to work alone and around and with others. Physical duties are subject to change.
